Healthy wildlife, healthy people

 

Draft program for the 9th conference of the European Wildlife Disease Association, Vlieland, the Netherlands, 13 - 16 September 2010

 

The main theme of the 2010 meeting will be how wildlife diseases affect human health. The program will make a real bridge between public health and wildlife health by involving public health representatives in the organisation, keynote lectures, and debates of this wildlife disease conference.

 

Proposed sessions: 

  1. Trends in emerging diseases
  2. Rodent-borne pathogens
  3. Climate change and wildlife diseases
  4. Control options for wildlife diseases of public health relevance
  5. Focus on wildlife and human impact

 

Special features:

  • Plenary debate between wildlife disease experts and public health representatives
  • Updates on recent zoonotic disease problems of wildlife origin
  • “Snappers”: short oral presentations of selected posters
  • Workshops on tuberculosis, wildlife forensics, bat diseases, and rodent-borne viruses
